DGFT mandates EIC - EIA - SHEFIXIL Certificate - Export of Food Supplements - Botanicals to EU and UK - taxscan

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) vide notification no. 31/2023 issued on 11th September 2023 has amended the export policy of food supplements containing botanicals.

As per the notification, food supplements that contain botanical ingredients and fall under the ITC HS codes 1302 and 2106, and are intended for consumption by humans or animals, must obtain an official certificate from either EIC/EIA or SHEFIXIL in order to be exported to the European Union and the United Kingdom. SHEFEXIL is authorized to issue this official certificate, and it will be valid for a duration of three months starting from the date of this notification.

The export of Food Supplements containing botanicals to European  Union (EU) and United  Kingdom (UK ) originating in or consigned from India and intended for human or animal consumption, also allowed, subject to issuance of the official Certificate by the designated EPC, SHEFEXIL, as Competent Authority for a period of three months from the date of issuance of this Notification, based on the satisfactory Analytical Test Report from NABL accredited laboratories for ETO testing for Food Supplements containing Botanicals approved for the purpose as per the requirement laid down by EU.
