The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) vide Public Notice no. 29/2023 issued on 25th August 2023 has notified the allocation of the quantity of 5841 MT sugar exported to the European Union from India under Tariff Rate Quota for the year 2023-24.
In pursuant to the authority granted in Paragraphs 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy for 2023, the DGFT has assigned a volume of 5841 metric tons for the export of Sugar from India to the European Union under the TRQ during the period of 2023-24 (from October 2023 to September 2024).
In accordance with Notification No. 3/2015-20 issued on April 20, 2015, the export of sugar (classified under HS Code 17010000) to the European Union under the TRQ is exempted from charges, contingent upon adherence to the stipulations outlined in the ‘Nature of Restrictions’ specified within the aforementioned notification.
If necessary, a Certificate of Origin for the purpose of privileged sugar export to the European Union will be provided by the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade in Mumbai, based on the recommendations of APEDA concerning the eligible entity and corresponding quantity. Any additional certification prerequisites established explicitly for sugar exports to the EU will also be upheld.
The allocation will be managed by the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in New Delhi, which will act as the executing body responsible for overseeing the export of items under the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) to the European Union.
The obligation to report, as outlined in Notification No. 3/2015-2020 issued on April 20, 2015, in conjunction with Notification No. 20 dated September 7, 2015, will be adhered to.
