DGFT notifies Appendices and Aayat Niryat Forms of Foreign Trade Policy, 2023

On 26th April 2023, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) notified the appendices and Aayat Niryat Forms of Foreign Trade Policy, 2023. The updation is available on the DGFT (https://www.dgft.gov.in/) website from now.

A country’s government develops a system of rules and regulations known as its Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) to oversee its international trade dealings. An FTP’s primary goals are to boost the nation’s economic expansion, generate job opportunities, and boost foreign exchange reserves.

Under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) of India, an assortment of forms named Aayat Niryat Forms (ANF) are used by Indian exporters and importers for various purposes. The ANF forms are intended to simplify the documentation procedure for cross-border business deals and guarantee conformity to the various regulations and rules set forth by the government.

The notification was sent out in accordance with FTP paragraphs 1.03 and 1.04. As per the paragraph 1.03, the DGFT has been granted the authority to publicly announce the Handbook procedures, including the appendices and the Aayat Niryat Forms.

The various Aayat Niryat Forms are:

  1. ANF 1: Used for applying for an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) number, a10-digit unique code issued by the DGFT that is required for conducting international trade transactions.
  1. ANF 2A: Used for applying for a license for export of items that are subject to quantitative restrictions (QRs).
  1. ANF 2D: Used for applying for a license for export of items that are subject to export quotas.
  1. ANF 3A: Used for applying for a duty credit scrip,a certificate that can be used to pay customs duty on import of certain goods.
  1. ANF 4A: Used for applying for a duty drawback, a refund of customs and excise duties paid on imported goods that are subsequently exported.
  1. ANF 5A: Used for applying for a certificate of origin, which is a document that certifies the country of origin of the goods being exported.
