The Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry issued a Notification No. 03/2025-26 dated April 2, 2025, announcing that the Land Customs Station (LCS) Darranga in Assam is now officially a food import entry point.

LCS Darranga is now added to List “A” of Appendix-V in the Import Policy Schedule-I under the ITC (HS), 2022. This change increases the total number of food import entry points in India to 162. The updated list now includes:
- 28 sea ports
- 16 airports
- 33 land customs stations
- 85 inland container depots and special economic zones
The update was made to follow the rules and guidance from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). FSSAI has also assigned authorized officers to LCS Darranga to inspect and clear food imports.
According to the notification, the Superintendent/ Inspector/ Examiner/ Appraiser is the authorized officer to the LCS DARRANGA port.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry has approved this notification and will help boost trade and improve food safety measures in the northeastern region.
