DGFT notifies ITC (HS) 2022 to Sync with the Finance Act, 2021 [Read Notification]

The Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has notified the Indian Trade Classification (Harmonised System) 2022  (ITC (HS) 2022)  to sync with the Finance Act, 2021.

The Prohibited import of foreign drones in the Completely Built-Up (“CBU”) Completely Knocked Down (CKD), Semi Knocked Down (SKD) form, and further exempted the import of drones for R&D, defence, and security purposes from the ban but such imports will require due clearances. Moreover, the import of drone components shall be free.

The DGFT has introduced the modifications or amendments in the Chapter-wise Policy Conditions which says that import of drones in Completely-Built-Up (CBU), Semi-knocked-down (SKD), or Completely-Knocked-down (CKD) form is Prohibited, with exceptions. Firstly, the Import of drones by Government entities, educational institutions recognized by central or state government, the government recognized R&D entities, and drone manufacturers for R&D purposes shall be allowed in CBU, SKD, or CKD form subject to import authorization issued by DGFT in consultation with concerned line ministries. Secondly, the Import of drones for defence & security purposes shall be allowed in CBU, SKD, or CKD form subject to import authorisation issued by DGFT in consultation with concerned line ministries. Import of drone components shall be “Free”.

The government has notified a list of ITC (HS) codes introduced or deleted or amended or split or merged in ITC (HS) 2022 as per the Finance Act, 2021.

The notified section notes, chapter-wise main notes, supplementary notes, chapter headings, sub-headings, and description of ITC (HS) 2022 codes as per the Finance Act, 2021.

The updated ITC (HS) 2022 along will be available on the website of DGFT.
