The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), vide trade notice 33/2023-24 issued on November 10, 2023 has notified the launch of Revamped Electronic Bank Realisation Certificate (eBRC) System for Self-Certification by Exporters with effect from November 15., 2023.

Self-Certification for Exporters: The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is set to revolutionise export facilitation with the launch of an upgraded electronic Bank Realisation Certificate (eBRC) system. The streamlined process, based on electronic Inward Remittance Messages (IRMs), allows exporters to self-certify their eBRCs. This initiative aims to reduce transaction time, cut costs, and simplify the reconciliation process for bankers.

Workflow: Banks will electronically transmit IRM messages to the DGFT, accessible by the relevant IEC holders on the DGFT website. Exporters will then match IRMs with shipping bills, SOFTEX, or invoices to create eBRCs.

Pilot Launch: The revamped system is set for a soft launch on November 15, 2023. Banks will have individual cut-off dates, and both the upgraded and legacy systems will operate simultaneously during the transition.

Mandatory API Integration: All banks must integrate using Application Programming Interface (API) by January 31, 2024, for efficient data exchange. Exceptions require detailed justification.

Outreach & Awareness: User guides and FAQs for the revamped eBRC system will be available on the DGFT website. Exporter Outreach Programs will be organized for demonstration and awareness.

Feedback Mechanism: Stakeholders can submit feedback on purpose codes and rulesets to ebrc-dgft@gov.in. The DGFT website provides access to purpose code concordance and eBRC generation rules.

Support Channels: Exporters can contact the DGFT Helpdesk through toll-free numbers or by raising a ticket on the DGFT website for assistance, suggestions, or feedback.

  1. Call the Toll-Free Helpdesk Support Number.
  2. Raise a Helpdesk ticket by navigating to DGFT website -- > Services -- > DGFT Helpdesk Service. Users may also track their earlier helpdesk ticket status or search previously filed helpdesk tickets.
