DGFT notifies the New Platform for Korean Exporters to register for Preferential Certificate of Origin under IKCEPA to Avail Benefits [Read Circular]

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT ) has notified the new platform for Korean exporters to register for Preferential Certificate of Origin under India Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IKCEPA).

On March 2, 2020, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce issued a notice in the name of Deputy General of Foreign Trade, Mohammed Moin Afaque. The subject matter of the notice pertained to the online filing and issuance of Preferential Certificate of Origin under India Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IKCEPA) for India’s Export to the Republic of Korea and it will be effective from March 6, 2020.

This notice pertains to the fact the Korean Exporters under India Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IKCEPA) will apply for the Preferential Certificate of Origin and the issuance of the Preferential Certificate of Origin from the platform which is available at the URL https://coo.dgft.gov.in.

It was also stated that the Exporters to Korea will only avail the benefit under India Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IKCEPA) is ought to register themselves at the new platforms as soon as possible.

The extorters while registering themselves on the new platform must take into consideration the following conditions:

  1. For the purpose of electronic verification, the digital signature of the exporter is pre-requisite condition.
  2. The Digital Signature must have the IEC number of the firm embedded in the DSC.
  3. On the registration on the portal by the exported the passwords will be sent to the IEC holder.
  4. Once the registration is done the details pertaining to directors or partners and branch details will be auto-populated in the certificate of origin in the DGFT-IEC.
  5. The main page of CoO comprises of Help Manual and FAQs in order to provide guidance to the exports.
  6. In case of assistance, the exporter may raise a complaint on Contact@DGFT service available on the DGFT website, call helpline and send emails to coo-dgft@gov.in.
