DGFT notifies Quantities specified for Supply of essential commodities to Republic of Maldives [Read Notification]

The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) notified the Quantities specified for Supply of essential commodities to the Republic of Maldives.

The DGFT empowered under Section 3 of the Foreign Trade (Development 86 Regulation) Act, 1992, as amended, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2015-­2020, the Central Government hereby allows the quantities of Eggs, Potatoes, Onions, Rice, Wheat Flour, Sugar, Dal, Stone Aggregates and River Sand for export to the Republic of Maldives under bilateral trade agreement between Government of India and Government of Maldives during the period 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24.

The DGFT notified that for Eggs, Potatoes, Onions, Rice, Wheat Flour, Sugar, Dal, Stone Aggregates and River Sand Quantity to be allowed for FY 2021-22, Quantity to be allowed for FY 2022-23 and  Quantity to be allowed for FY 2023-24 is 407,178,004 Nos, 20,488.65 MT, 34,046.79 MT, 118,303.20 MT, 103,964.72 MT, 61,423.17 MT, 213.79 MT, 800,000 MT and 800,000 MT respectively.

The notification said that the export of the Eggs, Potatoes, Onions, Rice, Wheat Flour, Sugar, Dal, Stone Aggregates and River Sand shall be exempted from any existing or future restriction/prohibition during the period 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 to the Republic of Maldives.

For the export of quantity of River Sand and Stone Aggregates, CAPEXIL shall ensure that the suppliers /extractors have obtained appropriate clearances and mining of the sand is not undertaken in the Coastal Regulation Zone Area, which is prohibited under the Coastal Regulation Zone notification.

“In addition to above, export of River Sand and Stone Aggregates will be allowed subject to the exporter obtaining necessary environmental clearances/No Objection Certificate from the designated nodal authority of respective State Governments from where the River Sand is obtained. This permission will also be subject to any State legislation/judicial orders relating to mining of ‘River Sand’ and ‘Stone Aggregates’,” the notification read.

Export of Eggs, Potatoes, Onions, Rice, Wheat Flour, Sugar, Dal, Stone Aggregates and River Sand has been permitted to the Republic of Maldives under bilateral trade agreement between Government of India and Government of Maldives during the period 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-­24 as per the prescribed quantities. The export of above items to the Republic of Maldives will be exempted from any existing or future restriction/prohibition.
