The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has notified the revised import policy condition of potatoes from Bhutan through notification no. No. 16 /2023 issued on 3rd July 2023.
The essence of the notification is that the Import of Potatoes under ITC(HS) code 07019000 is allowed from Bhutan without any Import License, up to 30th June 2024.
By exercising the authority granted under Section 3 and Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, in conjunction with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, which have been periodically revised, the Central Government modified the policy condition of an item classified under Chapter 07 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule – I (Import Policy).
The DGFT has notified that import policy of potatoes (fresh or chilled) wherein the existing import policy of “import of Potatoes from Bhutan is permitted to any license up to 30th, June 2023” has been amended to “import of Potatoes from Bhutan is permitted any license, up to 30th June 2024.”
