DGFT Notifies Supply of Essential Commodities to Maldives for FY 2025-26 under Bilateral Agreement
Through this notification, the DGFT notifies the export quantities for the supply of essential commodities to the Republic of Maldives during FY 2025-26.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Department of Commerce has issued a Notification No. 1/2025-26 announcing the supply of essential commodities to the Republic of Maldives during FY 2025-26.

According to the Notification, Exports of nine essential commodities, eggs, potatoes, onions, rice, wheat flour, sugar, dal, stone aggregate, and river sand, will be permitted up to specified quantities during the financial year. The total allocations include 448.9 million eggs, 130,429 metric tonnes of rice, 114,621 metric tonnes of wheat flour, and 67,719 metric tonnes of sugar, among others.

Exports of the commodities mentioned in the table to the Maldives are exempt from any existing or future restrictions or prohibitions during FY 2025-26.

Exports of eggs, potatoes, onions, rice, wheat flour, sugar, dal, stone aggregate, and river sand fall under the prohibited/restricted category and are permitted only in 6 customs stations. They are
- Mundra Sea port(INMUN1)
- Tuticorin Sea Port (INTUT1)
- Nhava Sheva Sea Port (INNSA1)
- ICD Tughlakabad (INTKD6)
- Kandla Sea (INIXY1)
- Visakhapatnam Sea (INVTZ1)
If the suppliers/extractors need to export River Sand and Stone Aggregate above the quantity mentioned in the table (i.e., 1,300,000 MT). CAPEXIL must ensure that they have obtained the required environmental clearances and that mining is not conducted in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas.

Environmental safeguards have been stipulated for the export of river sand and stone aggregate, which require clearance from both central and state environmental authorities. Mining activities in Coastal Regulation Zones (CRZ) are expressly prohibited, and all sourcing must comply with respective state laws and judicial rulings.
