DGFT removes minimum 5 days prior NFMIMS Registration Requirement [Read Circular]

The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has removed the requirement of minimum 5 days prior NFMIMS Registration.

The DGFT issued a notification on 10th August 2022 amending the minimum registration time period of the Non-ferrous metal Import Monitoring System (“NFMIMS”) under the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020 (“FTP”), in order to requirement of advance registration of minimum 5 days from the expected date of arrival of import consignment under NFMIMS has been abolished/made zero.

The notification stated that “the Non-ferrous metal Import Monitoring System (NFMIMS) shall require importers to submit advance information in an online system for import of items in the Annexure-I (for copper) and Annexure-II (for aluminium) and obtain an automatic Registration Number by paying a registration fee of Rs. 500/-. The importer shall apply for registration before the arrival of import consignment. Registration can be applied not earlier than 60th day before the expected date of arrival. The automatic number thus granted shall remain valid for a period of 75 days.
