DGFT revises Time period – Applying registration under Coal Import Monitoring System (CIMS) – TAXSCAN
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) vide notification no. 34 /2023 S.O. 4331(E) issued on 4th October 2023 has notified the revision of the time period for applying for registration under the Coal Import Monitoring System (CIMS).
In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 9 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023 (as amended from time to time), the Central Government hereby amends the Policy condition No.07 (ii) of Chapter - 27 of Schedule-I (Import Policy) of ITC (HS), 2022, with immediate effect:
Existing Policy Condition
The importer can apply for registration not earlier than 60th day and not later than 5 days before the expected date of arrival of import consignment. The Automatic Registration Number shall remain valid for a period of 75 days. Importer shall have to enter the Registration Number and expiry date of Registration in the Bill of Entry to enable Customs for clearance of consignment.
Revised Policy Condition
The importer can apply for registration not earlier than 60th day and till the arrival date (Zero Day) of consignment at gateway port. The Automatic Registration Number shall remain valid for a period of 75 days. Importer shall have to enter the Registration Number and expiry date of Registration in the Bill of Entry to enable Customs for clearance of consignment.
