In a synchronized operation early Friday morning, DGGI teams spearheaded by Mr Dhadich knocked at the doors of some of the old masters of the game who had built empires by claiming fraudulent drawback in the previous regimes and continue to milch the nation by IGST Refund Scamsters based on suitcase suppliers.
A couple of hundred officers drawn from various zonal units targeted such risky exporters based in Delhi and Punjab. The chain also leads to entities in Kolkatta.
Two persons, closely related, are being produced before the CMM at Patiala House today.
This operation has been a morale booster for the department whose officers (including a present member of CBIC) in the past were dragged and harassed into frivolous litigation. An honest ADG, DRI, Ludhiana was recently pushed into a trap by befooling the CBI, in a conspiracy designed to derail investigations into a much larger scam of several thousands of crores of IGST refund where the suppliers and exporters are untraceable.
As a result, several hundred live files under investigation by local DRI were taken away to CBI’s office in Delhi. CBI is now busy fighting termite from attacking these files while those IGST Refund scamsters are roaming scot-free.
