DPIIT notifies Mandatory Standard Mark on Solar DC Cable and Fire Survival Cable [Read Notification]

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Trade (DPIIT) under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, vide notification no. S.O. 3807(E) issued on 25th August 2023 has notified the  Quality Control Order on Solar DC Cable and Fire Survival Cable.

The order might be referred to as the 2023 Order for Quality Control of Solar DC Cables and Fire Survival Cables. Its implementation will commence six months after the official publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.

The notification states that “Goods or articles specified in the column (1) of the Table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard mentioned in column (2) of the Table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018: Provided that nothing in this order shall apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.”

According to the notification, the Solar DC Cable and Fire Survival Cable need a compulsory standard mark and any person who contravenes the provisions of quality control order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
