The Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman has chaired the three-day Chintan Shivir of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Ministry of Corporate Affairs concluded in Kevadia, Gujarat on 22nd August 2023. The Union Ministers of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary and Dr. Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad were present in the occasion.
The Finance Minister recommended that officials make the best use of the extensive range of resources and expertise available within the Government. Emphasizing the importance of guiding the younger generation, the Finance Minister highlighted the role of mentoring in enhancing endeavors towards achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, during the transformative period known as the Amrit Kaal.
Addressing the issue of information overload and its negative impact on effectiveness and efficiency, the Finance Minister of the Union highlighted the importance of simplifying procedures. The emphasis was not only on adopting a whole-of-Government approach but also embracing a holistic approach encompassing the entire country. This approach is aimed at enhancing the delivery of services and increasing engagement.
Furthermore, the officials were encouraged to surpass their designated responsibilities and venture into uncharted territories, creating an additional influence in other areas. This approach aims to foster collaborative ideas that could prove beneficial for the ministry as a whole.
The minister also motivated the senior officials from MoF and MCA to consistently guide and support new recruits and younger colleagues. This mentoring process aims to help them acquire the necessary skills to achieve outcomes during the Amrit Kaal period and beyond, contributing to the realization of a developed India by 2047.
The Session on the “Role of Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs in Amrit Kaal” focused on enabling growth and stability, and focused on the following four themes:
- Capital Formation and Retention
- Inclusive Growth
- Aatmanirbhar Bharat
- Strengthening Public Finance
The Chintan Shivir was attended by high-ranking personnel from both the Finance Minsitry and the MCA. The event was joined by the Finance Secretary, Secretaries from the Departments of Economic Affairs (DEA), Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Revenue (DoR), Financial Services (DFS), and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The Chief Economic Advisor as well as the Chairpersons of CBDT and CBIC were also involved in the discussions.
