The Ministry of Finance has notified the special trial courts and its territorial jurisdiction for the PMLA ( Prevention of Money Laundering Act ) in Kerala, in consultation with the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.
The government has designated 2 Courts of Session as special courts and also listed the areas covered under them. One is Additional District and Sessions Court-I, Ernakulam and another one is Additional Sessions Court (Marad cases), Kozhikode.

The PMLA offences committed in the areas of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Kottayam, Ernakulam districts will be entertained by the Additional District and Sessions Court-I, Ernakulam.
With regards to the remaining districts, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, the offences will be tried in Additional Sessions Court (Marad cases), Kozhikode.
The Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 was enacted to address the issue of turning illicitly acquired funds into legitimate assets. Till now, many politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen..etc were accused of committing money laundering offences.
The ministry made amendments to the notification of S.O. 372(E), dated the 5th February, 2016 to accommodate the same. In the said notification, in the Table, against serial number 12 relating to the State of Kerala, after the existing entries in columns (3) and (4), the following entries shall be inserted, namely:—
