Finance Ministry Revises Customs Tariff Values for Palm Oil, Soya Bean Oil, Gold and Silver, and Areca Nuts [Read Notification]

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) under the Ministry of Finance issued Notification No. 12/2025-Customs (N.T.), dated February 28, 2025, revising the tariff values for imported commodities, including various types of edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2025.

The tariff value for crude palm oil has increased and RBD palm oil and other palm oil have also seen a slight increase compared to the previous values. Crude Palmolein, RBD Palmolein, and Other Palmoleins have witnessed a rise in tariff values. The tariff value for crude soybean oil has slightly increased, reversing the previous downward trend. The tariff value for Brass Scrap (all grades) has increased significantly.

The tariff values for gold and silver have decreased across all categories, in contrast to the previous notification’s increasing trend. However, the tariff value for areca nuts remains unchanged at $8140 per metric tonne.
