Finance Ministry Revises Customs Tariff Values for Palm Oil, Soya Bean Oil, Gold, Silver, and Areca Nuts [Read Notification]

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ) under the Ministry of Finance issued Notification No. 03/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated January 15, 2025, revising the tariff values for imported commodities, including various types of edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. These changes will come into effect on January 16, 2025.

The tariff values for Crude Palm Oil, RBD Palm Oil, Other Palm Oils, Crude Palmolein, RBD Palmolein, and Other Palmoleins have been decreased compared to the previous values. The tariff value for crude soybean oil has decreased, reversing the earlier trend. Meanwhile, the tariff value for Brass Scrap (all grades) has been marginally increased.

For gold and silver, the tariff values have seen slight increases across all categories, contrary to the previous notification where they were reduced. The tariff value for areca nuts remains unchanged at $6448 per metric tonne, consistent with past notifications.
