Finance Ministry updates Customs Tariff Values for Palm Oil, Soya Bean Oil, Gold and Silver, and Areca Nuts [Read Notification]

Through this notification, the Finance Ministry updated the Customs tariff value of Palm Oil, Soya Bean Oil (increased), gold (increased), and Silver (decreased)

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ) under the Ministry of Finance issued Notification No. 84/2024-Customs (N.T.) dated November 29, 2024, revising the tariff values for imported commodities, including various types of edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. These changes will come into effect on November 30, 2024.

The tariff values for Crude Palm Oil, RBD Palm Oil, Other Palm Oils, Crude Palmolein, RBD Palmolein, Other Palmoleins, and Crude Soybean Oil have been increased compared to previous values. The tariff value for Brass Scrap ( all grades ) has been reduced.

The tariff values for gold have been increased but silver has been decreased. The areca nuts tariff value remains unchanged.

Explanation. - For the purposes of this entry, silver in any form shall not include foreign currency coins, jewellery made of silver or articles made of silver.978 per kilogram (Decreased)
471(i) Gold bars, other than tola bars, bearing manufacturer’s or refiner’s engraved serial number and weight expressed in metric units; (ii) Gold coins having gold content not below 99.5% and gold findings, other than imports of such goods through post, courier or baggage. Explanation. - For the purposes of this entry, “gold findings” means a small component such as hook, clasp, clamp, pin, catch, screw back used to hold the whole or a part of a piece of Jewellery in place.850 per 10 grams (Increased)
