The committee meeting served as a platform for stakeholders to voice their concerns and seek clarity on various GST-related issues. Among the key issues raised were persistent technical difficulties in filing GST returns, complications in submitting exemption applications under the Amnesty Scheme, and ambiguity surrounding the continued necessity of e-way bills despite the rollout of e-invoicing.

Additionally, a notable request was put forth seeking relief for government contractors, urging that they be allowed to remit GST payments within one month from the due date without facing penalties.

Responding to the issues, the CGST and state GST officials acknowledged the concerns and assured the attendees that each matter would be examined thoroughly. They emphasized the government's commitment to cooperative federalism and responsive governance, assuring timely redressal of genuine grievances.

Participants lauded the initiative, describing it as a progressive move towards strengthening the GST grievance redressal mechanism in Kerala. The formation of such committees is expected to enhance transparency and provide a structured channel for resolving taxpayer issues, thereby fostering a more taxpayer-friendly compliance environment.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in collaborative governance and reflects the authorities' readiness to engage with taxpayers and professionals in meaningful dialogue. The continued functioning of this committee is likely to bridge gaps between taxpayers and administrators, enabling smoother implementation of GST laws and policies in the region and rest of India, once the Committee starts functioning in other states as well. However, it is vital to note that the GST Tribunal is far from being functional and adjudication for actual taxpayer grievances.
