A Jamnagar-based accountant has been accused of defrauding a factory owner by using the GST (Goods and Services Tax) number of a business that had been shut down for four years. The scam came to light when the Junagadh GST department issued a notice to the former owner of the factory.
Vishnu Pandya, a resident of Tirupati Park, Jamnagar, had operated a brass parts factory, which was closed in 2020.

Now working as a Pandit, Pandya was shocked to receive a notice from the GST department, prompting him to investigate how transactions were made using his GST number.
The investigation revealed that his former accountant, Raju Marvadi, had reactivated the closed GST number linked to Pandya’s factory, Kailash Metal, and opened a new account under the name ‘Riddhi Siddhi Casting’.

Marvadi fraudulently obtained a ₹5 lakh loan, misused the funds for various transactions, and fabricated business documents and transactions from 2020 to 2024, falsely claiming input tax credits amounting to around ₹5 crore.
Pandya has since filed a complaint against Marvadi, and the police are currently investigating the case.
