The Central Government has allowed the ‘Free’ export of onion subject to Minimum Export Price ( MEP ) of US Dollars 550 per metric tonne with immediate effect and until further orders. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade ( DGFT ), vide notification no. 10/2024-25 dated 4th May 2024 has notified the same.

On 22nd March, the government announced the restriction on export of onions. Then, the export of onions was prohibited until March 31st 2024, however, with a new notification it was extended and ‘prohibited until further orders’. The present notification ends the prohibition and anyone can export with MEP of US 550 per MT.
