In a bid to ease trade, the Central Government has decided to amend the warehousing provisions.
The amendment would provide a single point for the importer or owner to seek extension of the warehousing period and pay duties online.
“Amendments in warehousing provisions leverage the benefits of automation to facilitate trade and enable the department to monitor the permitted period for which goods remain in the warehouse,” the Government said in a statement.
