The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has appointed Narayan Tatu Rane as Chairperson-ex officio, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma as Vice Chairperson of National Board for MSME.
The government empowered under clause (a) & (b) of Sub-section (3) of Section 3 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, read with rule 3 of the National Board for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Rules, 2006, notified the amendments in the gazette notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises number S.O.498 (E), dated the 2nd February 2021.
Narayan Tatu Rane who is appointed as the ex-officio chairperson is a Union Minister, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Rane had earlier also served as the Cabinet Minister for Industry, Port, Employment, and Self-employment verticals in the Maharashtra government. According to the MSME Ministry, Rane has been in public service across different capacities for over 35 years. The Minister said MSMEs are amongst the strongest drivers of economic development, innovation, and employment. Rane called for the aim to “Unshackle the MSMEs and unleash their full potential to double their contribution towards a $5 trillion economy and transform the lives of the aspiring millions through jobs, exports, and inclusive growth.
Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma who is appointed as Vice-Chairperson is a Minister of State, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma who has been a five-time Lok Sabha member of Parliament MP. Hailing from Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh, Verma became an MLA back in 1991. In 2001, Verma was also elected as the vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP’s SC Morcha. As an MP, Verma was a member of the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
