Govt Notifies CGST (Second Amendment) Rules: Amends E-Way Bill Rules [Read Notification]

E-Way Bill - GST

The Central Government today notified Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Amendment Rules incorporating certain amendments to the E-Way Bill Rules.

The Rule substitutes the provision relating to information to be furnished prior to commencement of movement of goods and generation of e-way bill which can be filed electronically to the common portal.

In a bid to bring more accountability and transparency in the transactions and thereby to curb tax evasion, the most-awaited Bill provision under the Goods and Services Tax regime was launched by the Government on February.

However, the Government has decided to postpone the implementation of Bill system due to technical glitches in the common portal on the very first day.

Under the Bill provisions, both the inter-State and intra-State movement of goods above Rs 50,000 is required to be pre-registered online.
