Govt. exempts Raw Material used for manufacturing COVID Test Kits from Customs Duty [Read Notification]

The Government has notified the exemption on 1,2 Dimyrispyl sn glycero 3 phosphocholine (DMPC), Dimyristoyl sn glycero 3 phospho rac glycerol, sodium salt (DMPG), Hydrogenated phosphatidylcholine from soybean (HSPC), 1, 2 Distearoyl sn glycero 3 phospho rac glycerol, sodium salt (DSPG), Egg Lecithin, Cholesterol HP, raw material for COVID test Kits from Customs Duty.

The Government empowered under  sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, exempted the 1,2 Dimyrispyl sn glycero 3 phosphocholine  (DMPC), Dimyristoyl sn glycero 3 phospho rac glycerol, sodium salt (DMPG), Hydrogenated phosphatidylcholine from soybean (HSPC), 1, 2 Distearoyl sn glycero 3 phospho rac glycerol, sodium salt (DSPG), Egg Lecithin, Cholesterol HP, raw material for COVID test Kits, when imported into India, from the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon under the said First Schedule, subject to the condition.

The exemption can be claimed only when the import follows the procedure set out in the Customs (Import of Goods at Concessional Rate of Duty Rules, 2017.

It is noteworthy that nothing contained in this notification shall apply to the goods DMPC, DMPG, HSPC, DSPG, Egg Lecithin, Cholesterol HP  after the 31st August, 2021.

Further, nothing contained in this notification shall apply to the raw material for COVID test Kits after the 30th September, 2021.
