The Government on Monday has further extended the Customs Duty and Health Cess Exemption on import of Covid Relief Items.
Earlier, the government has exempted from customs duty and health cess, the import of COVID-19 relief items namely COVID-19 vaccine, Amphotericin B, Oxygen concentrator, Medical Oxygen, Oxygen storage tanks, Cryogenic road transport tanks for Oxygen, Oxygen cylinders including cryogenic cylinders and tanks, Non-invasive ventilation nasal masks for ICU ventilators, etc. till 30th September 2021
The government had earlier issued notification for exempting Basic Customs Duty and/or Health cess imports of a number of Covid-19 related relief materials, for a limited period. These included Remdesivir injection/ API and Beta Cyclodextrin (SBEBCD), Inflammatory diagnostic (markers) kits, imports of which have been exempted from customs till October 31, 2021. Also, imports of Medical grade Oxygen, oxygen therapy-related equipment such as oxygen concentrators, cryogenic transport tanks, etc., and Covid-19 vaccines have been exempted till July 31, 2021. Then it was further extended till August 31, 2021.
In the notification No. 28/2021-Customs, dated the 24th April 2021 in paragraph 2, for the figures, letters, and word “31st August 2021”, the figures, letters, and word “30th September 2021” shall be substituted.
