In a recent notification, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) extended the exemption of additional duty of Customs to specified jute products imported from Nepal.
In the year 2011, the government, as per Notification No. 08/2011, had exempted jute products imported from Bangladesh. The Notification dated 14.02.2011 had exempted Jute products falling under heading 6305 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), when imported from Bangladesh, from the whole of the additional duty of customs, leviable thereon under sub-section (1) of section 3 of the said Customs Tariff Act.
The present notification seeks to amend the above 2011 notification so as to extend the exemption of additional duty of Customs to specified jute products imported from Nepal.
