Govt. Issues Clarification on MCA-21 Portal Glitches
The government has assured improvements and security enhancements for the MCA-21 portal amid concerns over glitches, explaining increased filings and system reliability

The Government of India addressed concerns regarding technical issues in the MCA-21 portal, which is used by businesses for corporate filings. In response to a question in the Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs ( MCA ) clarified the issues and detailed measures taken to improve the portal's efficiency and security.
Questions Raised in the Lok Sabha
Dr. T. Sumathy Alias Thamizhachi Thangapandian, a Member of Parliament, raised the following questions to the Minister of Corporate Affairs:
(a) Whether the Government is aware of the glitches in the corporate filing portal- MCA-21;
(b) Whether the Government has taken any measures to improve the functioning of the portal;
(c) If so, the details thereof;
(d) Whether any measures are taken to protect the data of companies being filed via the portal; and
(e) If so, the details thereof?

Government's Response on MCA-21 Performance
Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra, acknowledged that MCA-21 has been operational since 2006 as India's first Mission Mode e-Governance Project under the National e-Governance Plan ( NeGP ). He pointed out that from April 1, 2024, to January 27, 2025, a total of 80.26 lakh (8.026 million) forms were filed on the MCA-21 portal, compared to 73.29 lakh (7.329 million) in the same period last year.
On the new MCA-21 V3 platform, 53.08 lakh (5.308 million) forms were filed during this period, an increase from 47.72 lakh (4.772 million) in the previous year. The government stated that these numbers indicate a growing engagement with the system and the overall reliability of the platform.
Steps Taken to Improve the Portal
The government has implemented several measures to enhance the portal’s performance and user experience, including:
- Introduction of Web-Based Forms: Real-time validation of data to minimize errors.
- User Registration and Authentication: Enhanced tracking of form status and improved access to challans and certificates.
- Live Chat Support: A helpdesk with a real-time chat feature for immediate assistance.

Ensuring Data Security
To protect company data submitted via the portal, the government has enforced strict security protocols, including:
- Compliance with MEITY, CERT-In, and ISO 27001 standards for data protection.
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA) to ensure only authorized users access the system.
- Masking of Private Information to safeguard confidential corporate data from unauthorized access.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs assured that it is continuously working to resolve any glitches in the system and enhance the efficiency of MCA-21, ensuring smooth corporate compliance across India.
