The Central Government, last week prohibited the public servants from sharing any information or documents in relation to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana ( PMGKY ), 2016 introduced by the Government after demonetisation.

Following the shocking move of currency ban which aims at removal of black money in India, the Central Government has introduced the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, 2016. The scheme was the final bell to all the Black Money holders to surrender their unaccounted money before the Government, after Income Declaration Scheme, 2016 and demonetisation.

Under the scheme, the declarant shall be required to pay tax @ 30% of undisclosed income, surcharge @ 33% of tax and penalty @ 10% of undisclosed income.

in a notification issued on 4th October, the Government said that “no public servant shall produce before any person or authority, any such document or record or any information or computerised data or part thereof as comes into his possession during the discharge of official duties regarding the PMGKY Scheme, other than those specified in section 199-O of Taxation Laws (Second Amendment) Act, 2016 (No. 48 of 2016).”
