Govt. Reconstitutes Advisory Board under COFEPOSA [Read Notification]

The Central Economic Intelligence Bureau notified the reconstitution of the Advisory Board under Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (COFEPOSA).

The government empowered under clause (a) of Section 8 of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 and in supersession of the Notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) dated 9th March, 2021 except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government reconstituted an Advisory Board with immediate effect for a period upto March 22, 2022.

The Advisory Board is headed by the Chairperson Justice D.N. Patel, Chief Justice and 2 members namely Justice C. Hari Shankar and Justice Jyoti Singh.

As per Section 8(a) of Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974, the Central Government and each State Government shall, whenever necessary, constitute one or more Advisory Boards each of which shall consist of a chairman and two other persons possessing the qualifications specified in sub-clause (a) of clause (4) of Article 22 of the Constitution.
