Govt releases 100 FAQs on GST related Queries posted on Twitter

The Central Government issued 100 Frequently asked Questions (FAQs) on GST queries by tax payers and its answers posted on Twitter.

As per the released FAQs, advocates providing interstate supply chargeable under Reverse Charge are not liable to take registration under the GST regime.

Regarding a question, whether rental income up to 20 lakhs would attract GST, it was clarified that “GST is leviable only if aggregate turnover is more than 20 lakhs. (Rs. 10 Lakhs in 11 Special category States). For computing aggregate supplies, turover of al supplies made by you would be added.”

It was also clarified that persons dealing with 100% exempted goods need not obtain registration even if his/her turnover exceeds 20 lakhs.

For persons deducting TDS, separate registration as Tax Deductor is required, it said.

It is also said that there will be no area based exemptions under GST.

Regarding question about the impact of GST on coal and the applicability of Clean Energy Cess, it was clarified that Clean Environmental Cess on coal will be replaced by GST Compensation Cess.
