The Department of Trade and Taxes ( DTT ) of the Government of NCT of Delhi has responded to various requests and suggestions made by the Sales Tax Bar Association ( STBA ) via various letters of representation dated March 1, 6 and 8, 2024.

In a letter dated March 22, 2024, addressed to the President of the STBA, the DTT has informed that it has already issued instructions on the rectification of assessment orders for clerical and apparent mistakes. The DTT has also issued additional instructions to clarify the process for rectification.

On the suggestion pertaining to clearing the pendency of cancellation of registration applications, the department is actively following up with the ward in charges. The DTT is committed to clear the pendency on this in a phased manner.

The STBA had also requested for providing meeting hours with CRC officials. The DTT has said that it will consider providing meeting hours with CRC officials twice in a week for an hour during forenoon. This will allow STBA representatives to meet with CRC officials to discuss issues related to client registration and other matters.

On the request to expedite the disposal of pending refund cases, the department is actively monitoring for timely disposal. The DTT is taking steps to streamline the process for handling refund requests and ensure that they are processed quickly and efficiently.

The department is also pursuing various proposals for clearing the pendency and demands in respect to erstwhile tax regime of Delhi Value Added Tax ( DVAT ). This includes working with taxpayers to resolve outstanding issues and finalize any pending tax assessments.

The DTT has assured that all suggestions made and requests raised by the STBA and the taxpayers will be addressed positively as per the applicable law.
