GST: Centre and State Divided TaxPayers in Maharashtra [Read Order]

The taxpayers in Maharashtra have been divided by the Centre and State Governments under the new Goods and Services tax regime.

As per the order issued by the Principal Chief Commissioner, Mumbai on last Tuesday, around 1,60,603 taxpayers would come within the jurisdiction of the Central Government whereas a total number of 6,45,875 taxpayers would be monitored by the State Government.

As per the guidelines issued by the Central government, ninety percent of the Taxpayers below the turnover of 1.5 Crore shall be under the administrative control of the State under the new tax regime. Remaining 10 percent shall be controlled by the Central Government. Also, Taxpayers above the threshold of 1.5 crores shall be equally divided among the Centre and States.
