The GST council meeting via a video conference scheduled today has been postponed to July 26th. The meeting was about to finish the unfinished agenda of the last council meeting.
Some states express reservations on rate reduction in the Fitment Committee.
Some states express reservations w.r.t. to existing large scale investment in petrol, diesel cars and vehicles. The States also express concerns against the proposal citing existing slowdown in vehicle sales.
The council is likely to discuss the proposal to cut GST rates on electric vehicles from the current 12 percent to 5 percent and discuss the proposal to cut GST rates on charges for electric vehicles (EVs) from 18 percent to 12 percent.
