Fed up with the easy bail conditions in the offences relating to the Goods and Services Tax ( GST ), the Central Tax department is all set to approach the Delhi High Court against the trend of relaxation of bail conditions by the lower courts.
According to sources, the Delhi Commissioners will challenge bail granted to accused persons who were arrested for making fake invoices to get GST Benefits. “There were two such cases where ACMM granted easy bail,” sources said.
The one-year GST is still struggling to make good numbers. One of the major reasons for such low revenue is, no doubt, evasion. After a six-month relaxation period, the GST department started investigations to discover the revenue leakages and tax defaulters. However, it seems that the easy bail conditions now made the department unhappy. The deterrence effort is diluted.
