The Goods and Services Tax (GST) e-way bill system has added new functionalities for enrolled transporters and enrolled taxpayers. The new functionalities include two-factor authentication for e-way bills, deregistration of enrollment and common enrollment, aimed at improving functionality and user control.

1. Deregistration for Transporters:

Transporters who had previously registered in the E-Way Bill Portal using Enrolment (based on PAN) and no longer wish to continue in the system now have the option to de-enrol themselves. Once de-enrolled, access to the E-Way Bill portal will be revoked. This facility allows any enrolled transporter to easily de-register from the E-Way Bill system.

After de-registration, the Transporter ID associated with the E-Way Bill cannot be used, and Part-B details cannot be updated for the de-registered Transporter ID.

2. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

To enhance the security of E-Way Bill login access, 2-Factor Authentication has been enabled and is currently optional. However, after a certain period, 2FA will become mandatory. Users operating the E-Way Bill system from multiple locations with a single credential are advised to create sub-users promptly.

3. Cancellation of Common Enrollment:

Some taxpayers have completed common enrollment but now wish to cancel their common enrollment ID for various reasons. To address this, a cancellation facility for common enrollment has been introduced. Taxpayers can utilize this feature to de-register from common enrollment.

After canceling the common enrollment ID, it cannot be used to update transporter details. However, Part-B details can still be updated for E-Way Bills assigned with the common enrollment ID before cancellation.

A one-month time limit will be provided after canceling common enrollment. Following this, login will be blocked, and no further activity can be performed in the E-Way Bill system using that ID. However, users can log in again using their GSTIN credentials and generate new E-Way Bills.

These E-Way Bill enhancements provide greater flexibility and control to transporters and taxpayers. The system allows for easy de-registration, cancellation of common enrollment, and ensures enhanced security with the introduction of 2-Factor Authentication. Stay updated with the latest changes to ensure smooth operations within the E-Way Bill system.
