The Ministry of Finance has today released the State-wise details of detection of GST evasion cases where the State of Maharashtra is leading the list with Rs. 3898.72 crores of evasion in 418 cases followed by Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka with Rs. 998.62 crores and Rs. 844.17 crores respectively, State Minister Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla said in Lok Sabha.
As per a press release issued by the Government, the department has detected an evasion of Rs 12766.85 crore in 8 months till November. An amount of Rs. 7909.96 Cr. has been recovered during the period April 2018 to November 2018, Shukla said.
So far, 3196 cases have been reported in connection with tax evasion.
In Uttar Pradesh, 233 cases have been reported whereas 127 cases are there in Karnataka. In Gujarat, 303 cases are reported for an evasion of Rs. 548.16 crores in which, Rs. 405.55 crores are detected.
The Government has taken tax evasion measures such as Intelligence based enforcement, E-Way Bill squads, Systematic Analysis of Data and setting-up of Directorate General ( Analytics & Risk Management).
