The GST investigation wing under the Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance arrested a trader on charges of GST tax fraud of more than Rs 10 crore.

The GST Investigation Wing arrested Iron Scrap trader accused of Rupees 10 Crores GST fraud.

The Jugsalai resident, Amit Agarwal alias Vicky Bhalotia, is accused of input tax credit (ITC) fraud of more than Rs 10 crore. On Monday, he was produced before a court that forwarded him to jail.

It was reported that the amount of money involved in ITC fraud could increase further as a detailed investigation into his business network spread across Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Chhatisgarh is being probed,” said a GST official on condition of anonymity.

The arrest of the trader has been done on the direction of the senior officials of Directorate General GST (investigating wing), Patna circle. The arrest came after four days of a search conducted at his seven premises in the city.
