GST Portal Update: CA/Electricity Consumer Number is now mandatory while applying for GST Registration

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) portal has been updated with a new tab which mandates to provide Consumer Agreement (CA)/ ELectricity Consumer Number (ECN) while applying for the GST registration.
To obtain a unique Goods and Services Tax (GST) identification number from the tax authorities, a business or individual must register for GST. In addition to allowing businesses to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) on the GST paid on their purchases, it also enables them to collect and remit GST on the deliveries of products and services they make.
While applying for GST registration, the applicant has to fill the State Specific Information (SSI). The new tab has been added under this particular section. The applicant has to fill the Electricity board and the electricity number in the new tab provided.

Basic Documents Required for GST Registration
- PAN of the Applicant
- Aadhaar card
- Proof of business registration or Incorporation certificate
- Identity and Address proof of Promoters/Director with Photographs
- Address proof of the place of business
- Bank Account statement/Cancelled cheque
- Digital Signature
- Letter of Authorization/Board Resolution for Authorized Signatory
