GSTN Issues Advisory on Biometric Aadhaar Authentication for GST Registration in Haryana, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura
Depending on their risk profile, applicants will either be directed to complete OTP-based Aadhaar authentication or book an appointment to visit a designated GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for biometric authentication and document verification

The Goods and Services Tax Network ( GSTN ) has issued an advisory introducing biometric-based Aadhaar authentication and document verification for GST registration applicants in Haryana, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, effective from December 7, 2024.
As part of the new functionality, applicants will receive an email link after submitting their application in Form GST REG-01. Depending on their risk profile, applicants will either be directed to complete OTP-based Aadhaar authentication or book an appointment to visit a designated GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for biometric authentication and document verification.
For OTP-Based Authentication: Applicants receiving a link for OTP-based Aadhaar authentication can continue with the standard registration process.

For Biometric Verification: Applicants directed to visit a GSK must use the appointment link provided in their email to schedule a visit.
During the GSK visit, applicants must carry:
- The appointment confirmation email (hard or soft copy).
- Jurisdiction details as mentioned in the intimation email.
- Original Aadhaar and PAN cards.
- Original documents uploaded with the application.

Biometric authentication and document verification will be completed for all required individuals listed in the GST application (Form REG-01). Applicants must schedule their appointment within the permissible timeline provided in the email. Once the process is completed, the Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated.
