Haryana Govt appoints new VAT Tribunal Members with Immediate Effect [Read Notification]

The Haryana government has appointed new members to the Value Added Tax ( VAT ) Tribunal. The Haryana government has appointed new members to the Value Added Tax ( VAT ) Tribunal. In accordance with the authority vested in the Governor of Haryana by subsection (1) of Section 57 of the Haryana Value Added Tax Act, 2003 (Act 6 of 2003), and in conjunction with clause (i) of sub-section (1) and clause (f) of sub-section (2) of section 174 of the Haryana Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (19 of 2017), the appointments have been made to the Haryana Tax Tribunal, effective immediately.

These appointments are made with the purpose of enabling the Tribunal to effectively carry out its functions and exercise its powers under the aforementioned Act.  The following amendment has been made to the Haryana Government, Excise and Taxation Department, Notification No. S.O. 78/H.A. 6/2003/S. 57/2003, dated the 15th May, 2003.

The following are appointed as VAT tribunal members:

  1. Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill (Retired) : Chairman
  2. Smt. Anju Goyal, Chartered Accountant: Member
  3. Sh. Sachin Jain, Advocate: Member

Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra has made some clarifications and confirmations regarding the imminent commencement of operations for Goods and Services Tax ( GST ) Appellate Tribunals. The tribunal is  to address issues between taxpayers and the tax system, and are gearing up to initiate their proceedings in July or August.
