ICAI and OCCI Collaborates to Shape Curriculum for Omani Chartered Accountancy Students

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), has announced its commitment to supporting the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in developing a specialised curriculum for Omani Chartered Accountancy students. ICAI is the world’s largest accounting body.

This collaborative initiative was revealed by CA Ranjeet Kumar Agrawal, Vice President of ICAI, during the inauguration of the 13th International Seminar of the ICAI Muscat Chapter, held on January 19, 2024.

The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, who served as the chief guest. The keynote address was delivered by former Union Minister of India CA Suresh Prabhu. Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to Oman, and Dr. Yousuf Al Mabsali, Assistant Dean at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), were honoured guests.

Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas expressed his gratitude for the successful Omani CFO Mentoring Program conducted by ICAI Muscat Chapter, stating that ICAI is their natural partner of choice to develop a curriculum for Omani Chartered Accountancy students.

CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal underscored India and ICAI’s commitment to global collaboration and stated that ICAI can support Oman in the development of a curriculum and also set up an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Oman.

Welcoming the initiative, CA Jim Joseph Itty, Chairperson of the ICAI Muscat Chapter, highlighted the professionalism demonstrated in the Omani CFO Mentoring Program and expressed confidence in the timely development of the new curriculum with ICAI’s support. He also announced the association with OCCI and the Indian Embassy for the Oman India Investor Forum, aiming to connect businesses through over 400,000 ICAI members globally.
