ICAI Announces Update on UDIN Portal ; Change in Data Entry to Numeric Format

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has announced an update on the Unique Document Identification Number ( UDIN ) portal. It was declared that from December 6, 2024, the format for entering figures and values will shift from alphanumeric to numeric, beginning with the Audit & Assurance Functions category.

It was mentioned that this phased implementation will extend to the GST & Tax Audit category on December 13, 2024, and Certificates category on December 20, 2024. The changes are aimed to standardize the data entered by members, ensuring uniformity and accuracy across all categories. The revised format will be visible to members in their “List UDIN” dashboard and to verifiers in the verifier panel. This adjustment applies immediately and is expected to enhance consistency in the UDIN generation process. The purpose of capturing mandatory figures/values in numeric is to maintain the uniformity in the figures/values entered by members for UDIN generation.
