ICAI Election 2018: Two Days Polling in Ghaziabad after Allahabad High Court Verdict

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), following a direction of the Allahabad High Court, announced that there would be a two-days poll in Ghaziabad during the ICAI election 2018 which is scheduled in December.

Earlier this month, the Allahabad High Court, in a petition filed by a Chartered Accountant, has directed the ICAI to revisit the request of the petitioner to recognize Ghaziabad as one city with 2500 members and to provide two days for polling after clubbing the residential localities of Indirapuram, Sahibabad, Vaishali, etc.

“In compliance with the direction of the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, vide ex parte Order dated 17th September 2018 in Writ C.No. 31365 of 2018, passed in the matter of Kapil Gupta vs. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India & Others, and in partial modification of Announcement dated 29th June 2018, it is hereby informed to all concerned that the polling for election to the Twenty Fourth Council from the Central India Regional Constituency and Twenty Third Central India Regional Council will now be held for two days on 7th and 8th December 2018 in Ghaziabad city by recognizing Ghaziabad as one city after clubbing Indirapuram, Sahibabad, Vaishali, etc. with Ghaziabad,” ICAI said.

“Accordingly, in terms of Rule 21(3) of the Chartered Accountants (Election to the Council) Rules, 2006, the polling at the polling booths set up at Ghaziabad (C065 to C067), Indirapuram (C081), Sahibabad (C181) and Vaishali (C197 to C198) will be held on two consecutive days, i.e. 7th and 8th December, 2018,” ICAI said.
