ICAI establishes New Branch at Vizianagaram District

On 20-08-2024, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) issued a notification under regulation 159 (1A) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, announcing the formation of a new branch under the Southern India Regional Council ( SIRC ). This new branch is located in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh, with effect from August 14, 2024.

The establishment of a district branch at Vizhianagram by ICAI can be considered a major step in creating its influence in the region, and it will aid ICAI in providing support to chartered accountants in the region.

The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) had set up a branch of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) in Visakhapatnam under regulation 136(1) of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1964.

Now, through the latest notification, the Council of the institute has decided to detach Vizianagaram District (Andhra Pradesh) from the Visakhapatnam Branch of SIRC. This change will take effect on August 14, 2024.

The notification further stated that under sub-regulation (3) of regulation 159, the branch shall function subject to the control and directions of the Council through the Southern India Regional Council and that the branch will execute any directions that the Council may from time to time issue.
