The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) notified the Cancellation of Certificate of Practice (CoP) of 190 Chartered Accountants. Out of 190, 16 cancellations were on grounds of non-payment of annual fee and 174 on non-desire to continue on 29th July 2023.

This action of the ICAI means that those members no longer have the authority to practice as Chartered Accountants. The cancellation might have been due to various reasons, including non-payment of prescribed fees, violations of professional regulations, or at the request of the member.

In accordance with Regulation 10(l)(iv) along with Regulation I of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, this notice serves to inform that the Certificate of Practice granted to the listed Members has been revoked, effective from 01 March 2020, due to their failure to remit the annual fees for the Certificate of Practice.

Additionally, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has removed 2514 Chartered Accountants’ names from the Register of Members, starting from 1st March 2020, as they did not pay the required fees. Moreover, one Chartered Accountant’s name was struck off at his request, and 57 other CAs’ names were removed from the register due to their demise.

The notification also included a list of accounts whose names have been reinstated retrospectively in the Register of Members, with the restoration taking effect from the dates mentioned alongside the names of the respective Members. Around 990 members are restored.
