ICAI releases Guide to CA Certificates in GST

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released the updated guide to CA Certificates in Goods and Services Tax (GST). In 2020, the GST and Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI introduced the "Guide to CA Certificates in GST" to assist members in fulfilling their statutory certification responsibilities under the GST law. Now, the Committee has undertaken a revision of this publication to offer members the most current and updated guidance.

The formats presented in the publication are intended to offer direction to members when issuing the prescribed certificates but are not obligatory. While the publication strives to encompass all certifications mandated from a Chartered Accountant under GST law, members are encouraged to use their discretion thoughtfully in situations not explicitly addressed in the publication, taking into account the fundamental intent and principles of the law. These certificates have been prepared in alignment with the Guidance Note on Reports and Certificates for Special Purposes (Revised 2016) issued by the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board.

The entire guide is organized into ten chapters, each of which offers the appropriate format for various CA certificates to be issued as follows:

1. Certificate under Section 18(1)(a) of the CGST Act
2. Certificate under Section 18(1)(b) of the CGST Act
3. Certificate under Section 18(1)(c) of the CGST Act
4. Certificate under Section of the CGST Act
5. Certificate under Section 18(3) of the CGST Act
6. Certificate under Section 54 of the CGST Act
7. Certificate under Section 29(5) of the CGST Act
8. Certificate under Section 18(4) of the CGST Act
9. Regular to Composition Scheme
10. Certificate under Section 18(4) of the CGST Act
11. Taxable Supplies becomes Wholly Exempt
12. Certificate for Credit Mismatch
