The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is a statutory body that regulates the profession of Chartered Accountancy in the country. The ICAI was established by an Act of Parliament, the Chartered Accountants Act, in 1949. It is the second largest professional accounting body in the world in terms of membership, with the primary objective of ensuring the highest standards of professional competence and integrity among its members.
