To keep their membership in the ICSI, the company secretaries must obtain a predetermined amount of CPE credits within a predetermined time frame. The minimum CPE credit requirements for various member categories are laid out in the guidelines.
The council has extended the deadline until May 31st 2023 in order to make it easier for members to achieve the statutory requirement of CPE credits starting on April 1st 2022 and concluding on March 31st 2023. However, it has been extended until June 30, 2023.
The CPE credits are mandatory as per para 5.2.2 of the Guidelines except those specified para 5.1 to secure 20 CPE credits in a year through structured and unstructured learning programs. The members are advised to utilise the last opportunity without any delay.
Please take note that the CPE credits earned by members who completed their required CPE for the period of April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 during the extended term will be counted towards the period of April 1 to March 31, 2024. Also, no carry forward of excess credit is allowed.
The Members are expected to submit an annual CPE compliance report to the ICSI. They must keep track of their CPE activities and turn in the required paperwork as evidence of compliance.
The ICSI may take disciplinary action, which may include suspending or terminating membership, if the CPE requirements are not met.
The ICSI Members can participate in the acceptable CPE activities on the list provided in the guidelines to obtain CPE credits. The activities include participating in webinars, e-learning courses, conferences, seminars, workshops, and other professional development programmes pertaining to the practise of company secretarial work.
